During the (Downward) Dog Days of Summer, how do you keep your cool?
“List of ways to stay balanced, keep your cool, and maintain your inner OM no matter what obstacles or temperatures we face”
Keeping our cool during the hotter seasons can be a challenge. So I created a list of ways to stay balanced, keep your cool, and maintain your inner OM no matter what obstacles or temperatures we face. Check them out and feel free to let me know whats that you have found help you keep your cool.
Add or increase BALANCING POSES in your practice. Balance is not only to keep us from falling down, it is also about staying centered and focused on what is most important in any moment.
Practice TONGLEN MEDITATION. Are you faced with some adversity or discomfort? This Buddhist breath and meditation practice is better than FroYo on a hot day. And with no calories!
Sing along with Joni Mitchell's BOTH SIDES NOW. This song has been around just a few years longer than me. I find it to be especially helpful when trying to find perspective in a heated argument or any situation.
Hydrate, hydrate and hydrate some more. We may not realize it, but chronic dehydration is a sneaky beast in the summer especially if you are active and on the go. Yes, some of us are dealiing with a drought so please don't waste water, but do keep your body fully hydrated!
May your summer be full of lots of fun, self-care, and many downward-facing dogs! Before you head out to enjoy your day, please check out upcoming events, ongoing weekly classes, and other offerings below.
Peace and Health,
Ken
